Records and views: your complete guide to working with data
A record is one row inside a Cortex Unit: a client, a deal or a contract. This guide brings together everything you do with records: creating, editing, assigning, views, tasks, comments, importing and moving.
How it works
Every Cortex Unit holds records, and each record has fields that you design. See Cortex Units: records, fields and relations if you’re new to units.

A real example
Shield Security Co.
The situation
12 employees work on contracts and visits, and each one needs to see only what’s theirs.
What they did
- Management created a Kanban view of the contracts by stage.
- They assigned each contract to a responsible technician, and turned on the visit date reminder.
- Management follows the discussion inside each contract with comments, instead of outside groups.
The result
Every technician starts their day from their tasks, and the manager sees the whole picture in one view.
A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.
