Use the Kanban board: grouping, dragging and cards
Kanban shows records as cards in columns based on a field. Drag a card to another column to change the value, or order the cards by hand within a column.
You need: Dragging: the edit permission on the record
Steps
1
Create a Board - Kanban view and choose Group by.
2
In Card fields, choose the fields that show on its face.
3
Drag a card to another column to change the field’s value.
4
Drag a card within the same column to change its order.
5
Use Load More at the bottom of a column to show more cards.

You can’t group by multi-select or tags, because a record would show in more than one column. Nor by text, numbers, currency or lookup.
The “no value” column
It always shows last and can’t be hidden. It holds the records with no value, and the records whose option was deleted. Only empty option columns can be hidden.
Dragging
Dragging a card to another column is a normal edit: status rules, automations and the change history all apply.
Ordering cards by hand within a column only works if the view has no sort. The card order is shared by all the unit’s boards, and new records show at the top.
