Mention another record in a comment with @@

Type @@ and choose a record from any unit to link it to the comment. That record’s assignees get a notification.

2 min

Steps

1
In the Comments tab, type @@.
2
Search for the record and choose it.
3
Post the comment.
The record shows as a link, and its assignees get a “Mentioned your record” notification.

How it works

You can only mention records in units you can see. A record repeated in the same comment counts once.

The author doesn’t get a notification, and someone mentioned directly with @ doesn’t get a second one.

If the reader has no access to the mentioned record, or the record was deleted, the mention shows without the record’s name.

If something goes wrong

“Couldn’t link the record — it doesn’t exist or you don’t have access to it”

A real example

Shield Security Co.
The situation

A maintenance visit showed that a new quote is needed.

What they did
  1. In the visit’s comments, the technician wrote “Needs a quote” with @@ for the client’s record.
The result

The sales assignee got a notification and opened the client’s record directly.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

If a record can’t be linked, the comment is still posted, with a “Couldn’t link the record” notice; the comment isn’t refused.
