Add a new related record from inside a record (quick add)

From the Relations tab, add a new client or contract without leaving the record. Corteksa shows you the fields the new record actually needs, required fields included, and the new record shows first in the list.

4 min
Before you start · 2 things · for managers and agents
An active relation between the two units, the Add permission on the related unit

Steps

1
Open the record and choose the Relations tab.
2
Press Quick add in the relation panel.
An add row shows with the fields you need, in the same order as the record page.
3
Fill in the fields. A field that becomes required by a condition (such as “Commercial registration” when “Client type = Company”) shows and is required depending on what you type.
4
Save.
The record is created, linked to the current record, and shows first in the list with the view columns.

Which fields show?

Field
When it shows
Name
Always
The relation’s view columns
When you add from the original side of the relation
Required fields
Every field the record can’t be created without, always or by condition
Condition fields
The fields that required or visibility conditions depend on

Each field’s default value is filled in for you, and anything you leave empty takes its default value when you save.

When doesn’t Quick add show?

Quick add doesn’t show if you don’t have the add permission on the related unit, if the relation is deactivated, or if the related unit has a file or image field that’s always required (because the add row can’t upload files). In that case, create the record from its own page, then link it.

If something goes wrong

What you see
Why
What to do
Quick add isn’t there
No add permission, the relation is deactivated, or the unit has a required file or image field.
Create the record from its own page, or ask for your role to be changed.
A message says a field is required
The field is required, or became required because of a value you chose.
Fill in the field named in the message.

A real example

Shield Security Co.
The situation

An employee opens a deal and needs a new client, and a company client must have a commercial registration number.

What they did
  1. From the deal’s Relations tab, he added the client directly.
  2. He chose “Client type = Company”, so the commercial registration field showed and became required.
The result

The client was created in full and linked to the deal in one step.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

These don’t show in the add row: calculation, serial number, lookup, rollup, relation, file, image, and the source, session and ad fields.
Fields outside the list above aren’t saved from the add row; fill them in on the new record’s page.
Deduplication Control applies to records created here too.
