The delete permission on the unit and on this record
  • You need: The delete permission on the unit and on this record

Steps

1
From the row menu, choose Delete, then confirm.
2
To delete several records, select them, then choose Delete from the bulk actions bar. See Edit, assign or delete several records at once.
3
To delete every record in the unit, or every record that matches a filter, tick the box at the top of the table to select the rows on the page, then press Select all … matching filters (it shows your number of records).
The banner says that all the matching records are selected.
4
Choose Delete and confirm. For more than 100 records, tick the box I agree that I will delete … first.
You can’t restore deleted records yourself from the app. Before a large delete, export a copy of your data

See Export a unit’s records to CSV or Excel.

How it works

A deleted record disappears from every view and report. The deletion shows in the change history, bulk deletions included.

Deleting a record lowers the serial number counter, unless the field is in strict mode.

If something goes wrong

What to do
“You don’t have permission to delete this record”
The record is outside your delete level.

The situation

A test import added 300 wrong records today.

What they did
  1. The owner filtered the unit by Created At with Today.
  2. She selected the rows, pressed Select all 300 matching filters, then Delete, and ticked the “I agree” box.
The result

Only today’s records were deleted, and the older records stayed as they were.

Good to know

Deleting many records at once checks your delete level on each record. See Create a role and set its permissions.
You can’t restore records yourself after deleting them.
