Check a session’s activity log: when it disconnected and who changed it

Every session has a log that keeps when it was created, linked, disconnected and reconnected, and who renamed it, changed its unit or members, made it the default, or deleted it.

Anyone who can see the session
  • You need: Anyone who can see the session

Steps

1
In WhatsApp Sessions, open the session’s actions menu and press Activity.
2
Read it newest first, grouped by day. Each line shows the event, who did it, and the time.
3
Scroll down to see older lines.
30 more lines load each time.

Disconnection reasons

A disconnection reads Went offline, followed by the reason when it’s known:

Reason
What it means
stopped from the CRM
An employee pressed Stop
logged out on the device
An employee pressed Logout
restarted from the CRM
An employee pressed Restart
disconnected by an operator
The channel was unlinked at Meta or TikTok
a different number tried to take it over
The code was scanned with a number other than the session’s

When a scan is refused because the number is linked to another session, or because there’s no room for another session in your plan, the line reads Went offline with no reason. The notification you got explains why.

System in the “done by” column means the channel itself caused the event, such as WhatsApp disconnecting at night. That’s how you tell what a teammate did from what happened on its own.

The log doesn’t keep employees’ IP addresses. The owner’s audit log keeps them.

On the first link with quick connect, 2 lines show at the same moment: a rename by System, then the link.

At a glance

Event
What it means
Created
Session added: the session was created. It doesn’t mean it was linked
Connected
Number linked: the first link, when the code was scanned or the account was linked
Reconnected
Back online: a session that was linked before started working again
Disconnected
Went offline: it stopped working, with the reason if it’s known
Renamed
The old and new names
Unit
The new unit, or the unit was unlinked
Members
How many members were added or removed
Default
Set as the default session or No longer the default session
Deleted

The situation

A client complained that no one replied to him on Thursday.

What they did
  1. The manager opened the session’s log and scrolled down to Thursday.
  2. He found a disconnection by System at 3:14 PM, and a reconnection at 5:40.
The result

He found the cause within a minute, and asked the team to watch for disconnection alerts.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

The log has no filters: scroll down to reach an older day.
Disconnections and reconnections are only recorded when the session enters or leaves Working, so repeated flickering doesn’t fill the log.
The log starts from the date the feature launched, and doesn’t cover anything before it.
