Mention a member, or everyone, in a group

Type @ and choose the member, or mention everyone, and they get an alert on WhatsApp. When someone mentions your number, you get an alert in Corteksa.

The Update permission on the WhatsApp Groups row
  • You need: The Update permission on the WhatsApp Groups row

Steps

1
Open the group and write a text message.
2
Type @ and choose the member, or choose Everyone.
The name shows highlighted in the message.
3
Send it.

How it works

For WhatsApp to recognize a mention, the text must contain @ followed by the member’s number. The editor adds it for you when you choose a member.

Mentions in incoming messages show highlighted, and mentions of your number look different.

Group messages don’t send an alert unless your number is mentioned or someone replies to your message. That way your phone doesn’t ring for every line in a busy group.

If something goes wrong

What you see
Why
What to do
“This chat is not a group”
You tried to mention someone in a one-to-one chat.
Mentions are for groups only.

A real example

Shield Security Co.
The situation

The supervisor wants to alert one technician in a client group with 15 members.

What they did
  1. He wrote “@Ahmed the visit is tomorrow at 9”.
The result

The alert reached the technician straight away, without disturbing the others.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

Mentions work in text messages only, not in images or polls.
