Session states: start, stop, restart and log out
Every session has a status that shows whether the number is connected. Four buttons control it: Start, Stop, Restart and Logout. And you get an alert as soon as any number disconnects.
Before you start · for owners and managersThe Update permission on the channel’s row
- You need: The Update permission on the channel’s row
The four buttons
Every press is recorded in the session activity log, with your name and the reason: stopped from the CRM, logged out on the device or restarted from the CRM.
The disconnection alert
When a session moves from Working to Stopped, Failed or Scan QR, all of the session’s members get an in-app notification and a phone notification, with the session’s name and a link to the sessions page. A WhatsApp message may also reach the number itself, asking for it to be linked again.
The alert is sent once, only when the session disconnects. A session that flickers between Failed and Starting doesn’t repeat the alert.
Meta channels and TikTok
On the other channels, there’s no server for you to control. Start and Restart set the status back to Working, and Stop and Logout set it to Stopped. If the channel loses its permission at Meta, Failed shows, with a button to link it again.
At a glance
Logout on WhatsApp Web disconnects the number. When you link it again, you must use the same number, or it’s refused. See One number per session.
If something goes wrong
A real example
The maintenance number disconnected at night because the on-call phone’s battery ran out.
- The disconnection notification reached the operations supervisor and the 2 on-call employees.
- An employee charged the phone, then the supervisor pressed Restart.
The number was back within minutes, and the activity log showed when it disconnected and when it came back.
