Why doesn’t the first WhatsApp message reach a new customer?
WhatsApp restricts starting chats with new numbers, with a recurring quota and a temporary lock. The session stays connected, but the first messages fail. Corteksa shows both on the session and alerts you.
Steps
How it works
This only applies to WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp applies 2 restrictions to a number:
In both cases, the session stays Working. Replies in existing chats and group messages aren’t affected.
Quota levels
On the session’s card, Corteksa shows how much of the quota is used, the total, what’s left, the percentage used and when the cycle ends, plus when the lock will be lifted, if there is one. If it shows that the account has no limit, there’s no quota on it.
There’s also one summary line: whether the number can start new chats right now, and if not, why.
The alert
When the number hits either restriction, the session’s members get one notification, with the time the restriction will be lifted. And the failed message carries a clear reason, such as “This number has reached its limit for starting new chats in this cycle. Replies in existing chats still work.”
Updating the status
The status updates when you open the session page, if it’s more than 5 minutes old, and on any real refusal. You can press Check again, but a check doesn’t run more than once a minute per number.
If something goes wrong
A real example
An employee sent an offer to 300 numbers from an Excel file through WhatsApp Web, and his messages to new numbers stopped for 2 days.
- The temporary lock showed on the session’s card, with the time it would be lifted.
- They moved campaigns to WhatsApp Cloud with an approved marketing template, and kept WhatsApp Web for replies.
The lock didn’t happen again, and daily replies weren’t affected.
