Connect WhatsApp Cloud through Meta, the official number

Connect your official WhatsApp Business number from Meta’s pop-up window in minutes. This channel gives you approved templates that reach any client at any time, and buttons and lists inside messages.

10 min
Before you start · 3 things · for owners
A Facebook account that manages Meta Business, a number not linked in another workspace, pop-ups allowed in your browser
  • You need: The Create permission on the WhatsApp Cloud row
  • A Facebook account with permission to manage a Meta Business account.
  • A phone number that isn’t linked to a WhatsApp Cloud account in another workspace.
  • A browser that allows pop-up windows for the Corteksa site.

Steps

1
Open Settings → WhatsApp Cloud API, then press Add Session.
How would you like to connect? opens.
2
Press Connect new number. If the number runs on the WhatsApp Business app and you want to keep it there, press Keep app & connect instead. See Use the WhatsApp Business app and WhatsApp Cloud on one number.
Loading Facebook SDK... shows, then Ready to connect, then the Meta window.
3
In the Meta window, log in, choose the business account, then create a new number or choose an existing one.
4
Accept the permissions.
Waiting for authorization... shows, then Creating session...
5
Wait.
Session created successfully! shows, and the number appears in the list as Working.
6
Choose the members and the unit, as in WhatsApp Web.
7
Create your first approved template to message clients outside the 24-hour window.

What does Corteksa do behind the scenes?

It subscribes to the business account’s messages so chats arrive, and it registers the number with WhatsApp if it isn’t registered yet, with a two-step verification code that it saves for the number. If the subscription fails, the connection is refused with a clear message, instead of the number looking connected with no messages.

If you delete the session and then connect the same number, the old session comes back with its chats.

If something goes wrong

What you see
Why
What to do
The pop-up window doesn’t appear
The browser blocks pop-up windows.
Allow them for the site and try again.
“An error occurred” after accepting
Meta refused the authorization, or the number is linked in another workspace.
Try again, or disconnect the number from the other workspace first.
“Couldn’t subscribe the WhatsApp Business account to incoming messages”
Meta refused the subscription.
Try again in a little while, and check your permissions on the business account.
“WhatsApp couldn’t register this number for messaging”
The number is protected by a different two-step verification code, or it isn’t ready at Meta.
Check the number in WhatsApp Manager, then connect again.
The session suddenly shows Failed
Meta suspended the account, or the permission was lost.

A real example

Namaa Academy
The situation

A client asks about a course and then disappears for 3 days, and when the teammate tries to follow up, the message fails.

What they did
  1. The academy connected its marketing number through WhatsApp Cloud.
  2. It got an “Inquiry follow-up” template approved in the Marketing category, with a {{first_name}} variable.
  3. The teammate now sends the template when the window ends, and if the client replies, they carry on freely.
The result

Follow-up messages no longer fail, and it’s clear when the teammate can write freely and when to use the template.

A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.

Good to know

One number belongs to only one workspace.
A free-form message outside the 24 hours is refused before it’s sent. See The 24-hour window on WhatsApp Cloud.
If your account has several numbers, each number becomes its own session. See Connect several numbers from one WhatsApp Business account.
