Add a header and footer to a message template
The header is a line of text or an image at the top of the message, and the footer is a line at the bottom. You can add both to General and WhatsApp Cloud templates.
Steps
How it works
In a WhatsApp Cloud template, the file is uploaded to Meta with the template, as a sample for the review. After the template is approved, the media header’s type can’t be changed at Meta.
In a General template, nothing goes to Meta: a text header and the footer are sent as lines of the same message, and an image header is sent as a photo with the message as its caption.
Authentication templates don’t use a header or footer, because Meta sets their text.
When you send, the header and footer are saved with the message exactly as they went out.
If something goes wrong
A real example
The company wants its logo to show at the top of the visit confirmation message.
- They chose an Image header and uploaded the logo, with the footer “Shield Security - Riyadh”.
The message now looks official, and clients recognize the sender straight away.
