Duplicate a dashboard to edit your own copy
Make your own private copy of any dashboard you open, in one click, so you can edit it without touching the original. Rename it and change its look afterwards.

The “Create dashboards” permission + view access to the original dashboard
- You need: The “Create dashboards” permission + view access to the original dashboard
Steps
1
Choose Duplicate from a dashboard’s ⋯ menu in the library, or from the ⋯ menu inside the dashboard.
The copy opens straight away, named “{name} copy”.
2
To rename it, click its name in the header and type the new name.
3
If you want, change its icon and color from the ⋯ menu → Customize appearance, and put it in a folder with Place in folder.
How it works
The copy keeps the original’s description, icon, color, default filters, stage field, layout and widgets. It’s private to you: it doesn’t carry the original’s shares, folder, favorites or pins.
If you’re a viewer of the original, only the widgets a viewer sees are copied.
If the original has an HTML embed widget and your role can’t add HTML widgets, no copy is made. There’s no option to leave those widgets out.
To duplicate inside the same dashboard (one widget), see Add widgets and arrange them on the dashboard.

Why
What to do
Duplicating a dashboard with an HTML widget fails
Your role doesn’t have “Embed custom HTML in dashboards”, so the copy is refused.
Ask the owner for the permission, or ask someone who has it to duplicate the dashboard.
Duplicating fails when the workspace has many dashboards
The workspace has reached its dashboard limit.
Delete old dashboards.
Widgets are missing from the copy
You’re a viewer of the original.
Ask the owner for edit access.
Good to know
The copy counts toward the workspace’s dashboard limit.
Did this guide solve it?
If not, we’ll ask what was missing.
