Print data from a linked record, such as the client’s name
Insert a field from a unit linked to the record, up to 2 levels deep: contract → project → client.
Before you start · 1 thing · for owners and managersA relation between the 2 units
- You need: The permission to edit document templates
- A relation between the 2 units. See Link units with relations.
Steps
{{ in the editor.customer.name.project.client.name.How it works
When printing, Corteksa follows the relation from the record, and takes the first linked record only.
It reads linked records with your own permissions: if you don’t have the permission to read the linked unit, or the linked record is outside what you can see, the field prints empty. See Permissions: Allowed, Team-wide access, If responsible, Denied.
A multi-select field from a linked record prints only as comma-separated text, and can’t print as a list.
A linked record’s date prints as it is, and date formats don’t apply to it unless it’s a date and time.
To show all the linked records as numbers, use a chart from the linked records.

A real example
The contract is linked to the site, and the site is linked to the client.
- In the contract template:
{{site.name}}for the site’s name. - And
{{site.customer.name}}for the client’s name, through the site.
The contract prints the site’s and the client’s names without copying them by hand.
