Create a follow-up task for a record automatically
The Create a task step adds a task linked to the trigger record, assigns it by a rule, and can set the due date a number of days or working days later.
Before you start · 1 thing · for owners and managersThe tasks unit turned on
- You need: The permission to edit workflows
- The tasks unit is turned on: Add tasks to a record and follow them in My Tasks.
Steps
How it works
The task is always linked to the trigger record.
An inactive member is left out and mentioned in the details. If no one is left, the task stays unassigned.
The date is a day with no time, counted from today in the run’s time zone.
Working days are the assignee’s days if they’ve set their working hours; otherwise the workspace’s week: the weekend is the two days before the week starts. A week that starts on Sunday means a Friday and Saturday weekend.
“0 working days” on a day off means the next working day.
The task is created only once, even if the step is retried.
If something goes wrong
A real example
Salespeople don’t call new clients on the same day.
- A new record is added in “Leads”.
- Create a task “Call {{name}}” for the record’s owner, due after 0 working days.
Every new client shows in the salesperson’s My Tasks, due today.
