Steps
1
Press Add a step, choose Create a record, and choose the unit under Create in.
2
Under Its values, fill the fields with values or record details.
3
Optional: turn on Link it to this record, or add links under Link it from this record’s links.
Link the new record to the trigger record, to a specific record, or to a record reached through the trigger record’s relations.
4
Try it with a Practice run.
How it works
The unit’s duplicate settings apply. If the record is merged into an existing record, the run carries on with the existing record.
The record is created only once, even if the step is retried.
Creating it doesn’t start another A new record is added automation.

What you see
Why
What to do
“The field is required”
A required field in the unit has no value.
Give it a value under Its values.
It fails because of a link to an empty variable
A relation depends on a variable that wasn’t filled in.
Make sure the variable has a value in the record.
“The option doesn’t exist”
A value for an option the field doesn’t have.
Choose an existing option.
A real example
Shield Security Co.
The situation
Every client who signs needs a contract record created by hand.
What they did
- A field changes: the stage changes to “Signed”.
- Create a record in “Contracts”, with the client’s details, linked to the client.
The result
The contract shows up linked to the client the moment they sign.
A made-up company, to show the idea. The numbers are rounded.
