Automatic and manual dashboard refresh

A dashboard updates by itself when records change or messages arrive. The refresh button forces a fresh calculation, at most once a minute per widget.

4 min

Automatic refresh

When a record is created, edited, deleted or imported in a unit, open dashboards recalculate only the widgets that read that unit. Dragging cards on a kanban board doesn’t trigger a refresh. New messages refresh Conversation widgets.

Setting
Default
Live refresh interval (record widgets)
15 seconds
Conversation refresh interval
5 seconds
Fallback polling interval (when the live connection drops)
Every 300 seconds

If the page is in a hidden tab, its widgets refresh once when you come back to it.

Caching

The result of a dashboard with its default filters is cached: 300 seconds for record widgets and 60 seconds for conversations. The cache is cleared right away when data or permissions change. Any other filter combination is calculated fresh every time.

The refresh button

It skips each widget’s saved copy, once every 60 seconds per widget and member. Before then, it shows the saved copy with the number of seconds left.

Moving widgets or changing the name doesn’t recalculate the numbers.
