Widget states: limited, locked, outdated and error
Each widget loads on its own and shows its state. A failed widget doesn’t bring down the dashboard. Here’s what each state means and what to do.
Error causes
Cause
What to do
“This widget took longer than … seconds.” (5 seconds by default)
Try again, or narrow the date range or add a filter
“Couldn’t load this widget.”
Try again
“This unit is no longer available.”
Editors: change the unit or delete the widget
“The field … was removed or changed.”
Editors: Edit widget
“No longer supported — remove or replace.”
Shows to editors only; replace the widget
Trying again reloads only that widget.
The “filter not applied” note
A card may show that an active filter wasn’t applied to it, such as the date filter on “Unanswered chats”, the stage filter on a unit without that field, or a group filter outside what you can see. Details in Filter a dashboard by date range, owner, group and stage.
What viewers don’t see
Old, invalid or hidden widgets show to editors only. A viewer doesn’t see any space for them.
Tables and the activity feed never show the “Outdated” state, because their rows are records that may have been deleted or assigned to someone else.

What you see
Why
What to do
A widget says “No access to …”
Your level on its unit is “Denied”.
Request access from the card (Request access to a locked unit).
“Couldn’t refresh” keeps showing
The calculation is heavy.
Narrow the date range or add a filter, or ask the owner to raise the timeout.
A widget disappeared
It was deleted, or it became invalid and you’re a viewer.
Ask an editor to check it.
Good to know
The outdated copy is used for up to 24 hours by default (1–168 hours).
The widget timeout is 5 seconds by default (1–15).
